Kibale Coffee Orchards is the birthplace of specialty Robusta, a flourishing family run coffee farm situated alongside the vibrant and biodiverse Kibale National Forest, where native coffee trees populate the surrounding Rwenzori Mountain range, Western Uganda.

About our farm

At an elevation of 1200 meters bordering the microclimate of the Ugandan rainforest, Kibale Coffee Orchards is conveniently situated within fertile soils, high elevation and the wet, warm growing conditions of the tropics. Uganda is one of the few countries where wild robusta still grows naturally in forests, especially Kibale and Zoka Forests. This makes Uganda globally significant for Robusta genetic diversity and conservation. Our proximity to native wild coffee forests offers a healthy and consistent growing environment for our beans year after year. Another unique quality to growing coffee next to the rainforest is the cross pollination of the many varieties of tropical plant species. Coffee flowering occurs twice a year during the rainy seasons and produces a fragrant bright white flower bud that contains sugary, high-quality nectar,

a thriving environment for bee colonies. The bees work to improve coffee berry ripening, size and uniformity with their cross- pollination. This natural phenomenon not only encourages coffee production but also reduces parasites and disease attacks, a beautiful symbiosis with it’s ecosystem.
